The Type 99 Arisaka is a bolt-action rifle that was the standard-issue rifle for the Imperial Japanese forces during World War II.

The Type 99 Arisaka was designed by Nariakira Arisaka and was produced by various arsenals in Japan. It became the main rifle for Japanese infantry from its adoption in 1939 until the end of World War II. The Type 99 is chambered for the 7.7x58mm Arisaka cartridge. This cartridge was more powerful than the earlier 6.5mm cartridge used in the Type 38 Arisaka. It features a bolt-action mechanism, meaning the shooter manually operates the bolt to load and eject cartridges. The rifle typically has a 25.9-inch barrel and is equipped with iron sights. The rear sight is adjustable for range.

The rifle’s stock is made of wood, and has a monopod for stability.

The rifle bears Japanese markings, including the Chrysanthemum imperial seal, the manufacturer’s symbol, and serial numbers.
