The Mann pistol was invented by Fritz Mann a time when the market was saturated with small pocket and vest pistols. In order, to offer a different shooting experience Mann’s pistol was lighter and smaller than its competitors. Mann’s innovation included a redesign of the chamber to eliminate the heavy slide to contain the breech block.
Several sources estimate that the total production might be less than 20,000. Mann pistol was produced from 1920 to 1923/24 and by 1924 the gun could not be found in gun catalogs.
There have been aluminum and hard rubber grips and perhaps wood. Model 1920 Manns have aluminum grips except a very early gun which has wooden grips. The Model 1921 guns have hard rubber grips. Aluminum and rubber grips show the word “MANN†in an oval.
